2024 Election Day: Skid Row Votes

This portrait series captures the Skid Row community on election day in 2024, representing a diverse cross-section of the American voting base. With views spanning across the political spectrum and priorities rooted in lived experiences, voters reflected the issues that matter most to their community. Each portrait tells a story of civic engagement, highlighting voices of individuals often overlooked in broader political conversations. Photos taken in partnership with The Los Angeles Community Action Network.

Photographer’s note: Documenting the challenges houseless communities face is critical. However much of my portrait work in Skid Row is intentionally shot in a studio setting to connect with people first rather than their circumstances. Skid Row is a diverse neighborhood with a rich history — made up of housed and unhoused residents. By creating a neutral space to engage, I hope to reveal the larger tapestry of people and stories that make this community unique.
